The second annual Ring Out for Art sculpture competition will be co-sponsored by Jefferson Matters: Main Street’s Tower View Team and Home State Bank. This exhibit of original outdoor sculptures will be displayed on the Greene County courthouse grounds in Jefferson.
A call for entries is open to professional and amateur sculptors of all backgrounds. The artist is required to incorporate some element of a bell within the sculpture; however the element may be hidden and need not stand out or ring. Sculptors may submit up to five of their own original sculptures with the entry fee of $25. Entry deadline is postmarked by March 10, 2017.
The following must be included with application:
- One high quality photo of scale model of front and back of each sculpture entry.
- If a sketch is provided, it must be accompanied with a photo of one or two of completed works.
- A ceramic sculpture entry must be completed, not a work in progress, and durable for weather.
- Artist statement explaining the sculpture.
- Artist personal biography/resume.
- Signed release form.
Ring Out for Art is a juried contest with the selection committee comprised of visual artists and local business and community leaders involved in the Tower View Team. Entries will be critiqued on artistic merit, creativity, public safety and durability in an outdoor environment. This committee will choose only six of the submitted entries to be completed and displayed during the Bell Tower Festival on June 9-10. Those chosen entries will be notified by March 15 and will need to be delivered the week of May 15.
All six entries will be eligible for public voting and the following cash awards donated by Home State Bank of Jefferson. First place will receive $2,000; second place will receive $1,000; and third place will receive $500. Awards will be given during the Bell Tower Festival. All three winning sculptures will remain on the Bell Tower Plaza until May 1, 2018.
